Natural Hazards are geological events that happen naturally either under (earthquakes), on (Floods) or above (Cyclones) the earth’s surface. They are caused by major disturbances in the earth’s atmosphere; most common natural hazards are floods, droughts and earthquakes. When these events that are the result of natural processes, damage people’s properties and even loss of lives, they are called ‘natural disasters’. These disasters can cause heavy economical distress and can affect the populated area. One of the most notable natural disasters that has hit Australia is the Queensland flood that occurred between 2010 to 2011.
